L333 Belo Monte Pleco (Hypancistrus seideli)
This highly sought-after pleco is native to the lower Rio Xingu in Brazil, in the Belo Monte region, where it inhabits fast-flowing, highly oxygenated water over rocky and sandy substrate.
It has a bold, high-contrast pattern of dark and light worm-like lines across the head, body and fins. This patterning changes as the fish grows, becoming more defined with maturity.
They are shy, nocturnal fish that spend much of the day tucked away in caves and crevices, becoming more active once the lights go down. We recommend plenty of caves, slate and rockwork to give them secure hiding places, along with strong water movement and excellent oxygenation to reflect their fast-flowing native habitat.
