Granite Limbata Snakehead (Channa limbata)

Native to Myanmar and parts of north-eastern India, this snakehead inhabits slow-moving rivers, streams and floodplains with dense vegetation, giving it plenty of hiding spots in the wild.

This "granite" variant displays a mottled, stone-like grey-brown patterning across the body, giving it a granite-like texture rather than the bolder patterning seen in other Channa limbata colour forms.

It's a dwarf snakehead species, staying considerably more compact than many of the larger Channa, which makes it a more manageable option for hobbyists wanting to keep a snakehead without needing an enormous aquarium.

We recommend a large, well-planted tank with open swimming space alongside plenty of hiding spots such as rocks, driftwood and caves, and a secure, tight-fitting lid, as this species is an excellent jumper.
