Tiger or Barred Bichir (Polypterus Delhezi) BIG SIZE

This prehistoric looking fresh water fish is native to the Congo river basin in Africa.

It has thick diamond shaped scales with a  greyish base and yellow/green specks and black Bar-like stripes that give it an alligator-like resemblance.

The spine displays individual ridges and it has a large jawbone, adding to it's primeval appearance.

A modified swim bladder allows it to breathe air and so a large gap between the water surface and the lid of the tank is vital. A tight-fitting lid is also required as these fish are expert jumpers.

Any gaps or holes will be swifly exploited!
