Mustard Gas Halfmoon (Betta Splendens)

This classic bicolour pattern features a dark body — typically blue, green or black — contrasted sharply with bright yellow or gold fins, giving a striking two-tone effect.

As a halfmoon, when fully flared this fish displays a tail spread of 180 degrees, with the dorsal, caudal and anal fins forming a complete half-circle.

Juveniles often don't display full colouration and become more and more vivid as they age, making them fascinating to watch as they change.
