Alien Samurai Betta (Betta Splendens)

The Alien Samurai combines two distinct betta traits: the "Alien" body form, a selectively bred, elongated and more streamlined profile than a standard betta, with the "Samurai" pattern, thick, armour-like dragon scaling that gives a warrior-like appearance across the body.

The dragon scale genetics behind the samurai pattern mean colouring can continue to develop with age, and these fish are best appreciated under good directional lighting, which brings out the depth of their metallic iridescence.

Juveniles often don't display full colouration and become more and more vivid as they age, making them fascinating to watch as they change.

We recommend using Catappa leaf in the aquarium to help with stress and also improve fish health and colouration, and keeping an eye on the eyes over time, as heavy dragon scale genetics can occasionally cause scaling to encroach over them.
