Red Gold Galaxy Super Delta (Betta splendens)
Betta splendens are native to the shallow, slow-moving waters of Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, where they inhabit rice paddies, ditches and still ponds. This colour form is developed by breeders in Indonesia, pairing red and gold bloodlines with marble genetics to produce the metallic "galaxy" speckling across the body and fins.
Juveniles often don't display full colouration and become more and more vivid as they age, making them fascinating to watch as they change.
As a super delta, this male displays a wide tail spread approaching 180 degrees, without quite reaching the full spread of a halfmoon.
